LOG BOOK... (dated 25 Jan 03)

The company's spreadsheet logbook (tech log) will soon be ready for publishing.  The log book is essential for the maintenance of accurate accounts, not to mention for scheduling maintenance on the aircraft.

Without mentioning names, could I please just point out that A LARGE NUMBER of flying hours were flown by members WITHOUT THEM EVER HAVING BEEN LOGGED IN THE TECH LOG.  I appreciate that this can only have been an oversight, but apart from the terrible job it gives me with the accounting, it is both illegal and could invalidate insurance.  Fortunately, this time I got to the bottom of it all without missing any hours - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

ACCOUNTS AND BILLS... (dated 25 Jan 03)

You may (or may not!) be glad to hear that the long awaited accounts are now in hand.  Final checks are now being completed prior to publication.  Some of you may find that the bills are a little more hefty than you had remembered - bear in mind that some of that is down to this year's insurance premium.

Please ensure you pay promptly so that we can get some bill payments done right away for the repair.

News just in from Richard Goode:

The CAA has been pushing the Russian Federal Aviation Cervices (their equivalent) to establish definitively the authority their internal organisations have to issue internationally valid Certificates of Registration and Certificates of Airworthiness.

An exchange of correspondence between these organisations has, at the time of publication, not proved the issue either way.

The CAA has ultimate control over all aircraft flying within UK airspace, regardless of origin of those aircraft.  If, as appears possible, it is decided to revoke the rights currently exercised under the Russian system, it will mean grounding of all "RA" registered aircraft.

Transfer to an alternative registration may be available, including the possibility to transfer the aircraft to the "Golf" register on a permit to fly.

At the time of publication, there is believed to be no requirement to effect any such changes, nor is there any need to change the way in which we operate the aircraft.  As soon as any one becomes aware of any such changes, please email the following address for group dissemination: Click Here
